At Coppice we know that children’s reading skills and vocabulary acquisition underpin everything we teach in the curriculum, and indeed can ultimately affect children’s life chances. That is why we place a huge emphasis on reading throughout school, including a robust phonics programme. We believe that good readers make good writers, and we work hard to improve children’s writing by following a clear writing process, incorporating elements of handwriting, spelling and oracy.
